CATBALOGAN CITY, SAMAR, September 10, 2026 — Samar State University (SSU) welcomed its newly hired and promoted employees through the Orientation/Re-orientation and Oathtaking of Newly Hired and Promoted Employees, held at the 3rd Floor of the SSU Convention Center. The activity served as an important avenue for introducing employees to the University’s policies, procedures, programs, and expectations as they begin or advance in their respective roles.
The activity brought together 40 newly hired faculty members, 16 promoted faculty members, 11 newly hired non-teaching personnel, and 11 promoted non-teaching personnel, marking another significant milestone in the University’s continuing efforts to strengthen its workforce and cultivate a culture of professional growth and public service. The program formally commenced with preliminaries, followed by the welcome message and oathtaking of the newly hired and promoted employees, led by University President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia. The oathtaking highlighted the employees’ commitment to fulfilling their duties and responsibilities as members of the SSU community. The orientation also featured discussions on key university policies and procedures. Dr. Gina U. Españo, Vice President for Academic Affairs, discussed academic policies and procedures, while Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation for Development, presented the University’s research policies and procedures.
In the afternoon sessions, Engr. Mirador G. Labrador, Vice President for Administration and Finance, discussed administrative policies and procedures and Republic Act No. 6713. This was followed by a discussion on Personnel Association benefits by Dr. Ronald L. Orale, Personnel Association President.
The program further provided employees with important information on GAD-related laws and policies, presented by Ms. Charmaine R. Quiña, SAGWAN Director, and CSC rules and laws, personnel welfare, and benefits, discussed by Ms. Angelyn B. Machate, HRMO III. The activity concluded with an open forum and closing session, providing participants an opportunity to raise questions and clarify matters concerning their roles and responsibilities in the University.
More than an orientation, the activity underscored SSU’s commitment to ensuring that its employees are properly informed, equipped, and aligned with the University’s policies and institutional direction. For the newly hired personnel, it marked the beginning of their journey as members of the SSU family, while for the promoted employees, it signified a new level of responsibility and service.
As SSU continues to grow, its newly hired and promoted personnel are expected to contribute their knowledge, skills, and dedication toward advancing the University’s mission and serving its stakeholders.
