SSU evaluates gender mainstreaming initiatives, GFPS functionality

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines –Samar State University (SSU) is currently conducting a two-day evaluation of its gender programs through the activity, “Evaluation of SSU’s Gender Mainstreaming Initiatives and GFPS Functionality Assessment: Bases for SAGWAN Six-Year Strategic Plan” on December 9-10, 2025 at the Convention Center, SSU Main Campus, Catbalogan City, Samar.

The assessment gathered GAD Coordinators and selected SSU personnel to review the university’s progress in gender mainstreaming and identify areas for strategic improvement.

Leo Christian V. Lauzon, a Resource Speaker from the Philippine Commission on Women’s (PCW) National Gender and Development Resource Program (NGRP) Batch 6, led the evaluation sessions. Lauzon is facilitating a comprehensive review of SSU’s Gender and Development (GAD) structures and assessed the functionality of the University’s Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS).

Results of the evaluation will serve as bases for SSU’s SAGWAN Six-Year Strategic Plan, intended to strengthen policy direction, program implementation, and institutional mechanisms for gender equality within the university.

The activity forms part of SSU’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and gender-responsive academic environment.
