CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines–Samar State University’s (SSU) Student Welfare and Development Services (SWDS) – Psychological and Wellness Services conducted an online mental health learning session titled “Hands-On Learning, Hands-On Healing: Mental Health in Technical Courses” on Friday, December 5, 2025.
The activity gathered faculty and students from the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) for an in-depth discussion on mental wellness in technical and skills-based programs.
Mr. Jessie Mar Reformina Javelosa, Project Coordinator for the Provincial Youth Development Office (SIRAK Kabataan) of the Provincial Government of Samar, served as the resource speaker. He emphasized the importance of emotional well-being, stress management, and accessible support systems for learners in technology-focused disciplines.
The initiative forms part of SSU SWDS’s continuing efforts to promote mental health awareness and provide targeted psychosocial support across the university’s colleges.
