SSU takes active role in leadership devt as partner in LGA’s NEO PLUS Program

ILOILO CITY, PhilippinesSamar State University (SSU) continues to strengthen its role in local governance capacity-building as it participated in the Local Government Academy’s (LGA) Newly-Elected Official Performing Leadership for Uplifting Service (NEO PLUS) Program held on November 18–20, 2025.

Representing SSU, Mr. Alfonso Labrague Jr. of the Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SICGLG) served as course monitor for the Transformative Leadership for Elevated Governance: Refresher Course for Re-Elected Local Officials (NEO Refresher Course). Assigned to Region VI, he supported the training for re-elected officials from the Province of Iloilo, currently facilitating sessions aimed at enhancing leaders’ knowledge, skills, and values as they resume public service under a renewed mandate.

SSU’s participation forms part of the existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the University and the LGA, which positions SSU as a partner institution in delivering capacity development programs that uplift the performance of local government units (LGU).

Through endeavors like this, SSU continues to advance its commitment to public service and community impact beyond the campus.
