CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU) held its Orientation and Oathtaking Ceremony for Newly Hired and Promoted Employees on October 7, 2025, at the SSU Convention Center.

The University administered the orientation and oath-taking of 37 newly hired, 21 promoted, and one transferred teaching and non-teaching personnel from various colleges and offices.

SSU President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia led the oathtaking of all 59 personnel. Meanwhile, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Felisa E. Gomba spearheaded the orientation session with the newly hired faculty members, emphasizing the university’s commitment to quality education and professional excellence. Moreover, Vice President for Administration and Finance Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante graced the occasion and delivered words of inspiration, encouraging the employees to uphold integrity, dedication, and service to the SSU community.

“Public service is a chance to leave a lasting legacy and make a positive impact on future generations,” Engr. Amante reechoed George H.W. Bush’s words in her message.

The activity highlighted SSU’s commitment to strengthening its workforce through capacity-building and good governance. It supports the University’s alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
